We congratulate Daan Verhoeff on winning the first prize for his thesis on optical hydrogen sensors, which he wrote during his studies at Delft University of Technology.

This thesis, titled ‘Towards a Practical Hydrogen Sensor; Optical Response Analysis on New Geometries for Ta0.88Pd0.12-based Metal-Hydride Hydrogen Sensors, and Characterization of Structure at Low Temperatures,’ was written under the supervision of Lars Bannenberg. In his thesis, he demonstrates how a hydrogen detector is designed, built, and tested.
