At the SXNS17 in Grenoble, Lars presented the complety renewed and upgraded neutron reflectometer at the TU Delft Reactor Institute. Compared to before, it can measure up to 30x faster owing to the installation of a Cold Neutron Source. Such a cold neutron source is in essence a small vessal of liquid hydrogen close to the core of the reactor. It slows down neutrons which increases their wavelength. This is beneficial for applications such as neutron reflectometry.
